Lewis Hamilton Revives F1
As the new F1 Grand Prix season gathers pace there is a growing excitement among racing fans, the departure of Michael Schumacher from Ferrari has left a void in the motor racing world both for Ferrari and for motor racing fans in general.
The good news of course is that Lewis Hamilton has already stepped into the void and has become the new focus for much media attention, Ferrari will lament the fact that they never got the chance to sign this new exciting talent but what are the odds on Lewis driving for Ferrari in the near future?
One of the great spectacles of F1 racing is the colour and razzmatazz can be seen at the circuits on race day, each circuit location has its loyal followers and of course these numbers are swelled by the travelling fans who follow motor racing. The colours are vibrant for each team which is reflected through the fans, there is a growing trend to wear F1 clothing from the top teams and you will now see everything form race suits to jackets and caps at each circuit.
The wearing of F1 team clothing was driven by the success of glamorous teams such as Ferrari, McLaren and Jordan, this has now been so popular that you will see all the popular team colours worn in everyday life and of course supermodels such as Jordan herself has regularly been pictured in the yellow of her F1 team namesake.
Of course the glamorous lifestyle of the top racing drivers and their accompanying entourage is a great advert for these new styles and people want to be like their role models. The coverage on television is now spread over two days with the interviews and pre-race coverage profiling the F1 bandwagon in all its glory.
At Silverstone the crowd was alive with excitement and the stands were a sea of flags, colour and regalia for Lewis Hamilton. The sheer excitement of the qualifying session could be felt almost through the television screen and one could sense that when Lewis hit the hot lap in the final seonds that every lounge in the UK was full of fans leaping around waving flags.
Of course it is not just flags, fans are wearing t-shirts and drinking their tea in mugs whilst sporting all amnner of merchandise. The increase in demand for this type of sports clothing has now led to teams really starting to work on their merchandise.
Perhaps the most striking evidence of this increase is the emergence of the top F1 teams into the retail market through the Internet, all have now heavily invested into this arena and of course they are feeding a growing market.
The sales through Internet channels are boosted by Ebay and Kelkoo and of course Froogle (the Google shopping portal), it is predicted that this market will double over the next 12 months and the renewed interest in F1 thanks to Lewis Hamilton and competitive racing will influence this further.
Such is the importance of image and design now in this growing market that fashion designers and fashion moguls have been seconded in to create the latest stunning range of fashionable merchandise, a look at the latest range of apparel will reveal a stunning line of clothing, a second look will reveal this clothing not just at the trackside but also in the playground, the park, the High St and all aspects of everyday life.
In fact it is not just the adult males who are wearing it, the trend has migrated to teenagers wearing caps and t-shirts and youngsters who want to be wearing the latest Ferrari or McLaren race suit when they are playing in the garden and it has also taken F1 fashion to the female population. The fact that it is quite normal now to see a lady walking down the street in the latest clothing and this shows just how far this trend has gone because the ultimate purveyors of fashion are women.
Yes the new season is reaching new heights and even though Lewis didnt win at Silverstone he still made the podium and still leads the championship. The battle for the drivers and constructors championship is warming up and the competition in ‘retail land’ looks set to be heating up too.

Lewis Hamilton, Formula One world champion displays his driving skills at Diageo Shieldhall Glasgow
Hundreds of workers at the Diageo Scotch Whisky plant in Glasgow have had a special treat this morning, thanks to Formula One’s world champion. Lewis Hamilton gave them a thrilling demonstration of his title-winning mclaren-Mercedes car – the first time it has appeared in Scotland- outside the Shieldhall factory. He says he was delighted to put on the show and thank the staff for their support. He said: “I’m very excited to be here and I’ve been working with Johnnie Walker now for a couple of years but it’s the first time I’ve been up here in Glasgow at Shieldhall, and I get to do a bit of a demonstration. I was driving the car yesterday, the actual 2009 car, but to do the doughnuts, you don’t actually get to do that on a real racetrack.” The Johnnie Walker brand is one of the sponsors of the Vodafone mclaren-Mercedes team, to promotes a responsible drinking message. After the fun of today, the hard work of developing the new car begins for Lewis ahead of the Australian Grand Prix in March.

Formula D Support Good for the Sport and the Drivers
Formula D, also known as Formula Drift or Formula Drifting, is a hot motor sport whose popularity in Japan penetrated the U.S. Formula D is not your average car sport. What’s different about this sport is that there isn’t an emphasis on racing to get to that finish line, Formula D is something else. Formula Drifting requires the use of customized cars generally with imported rear wheel vehicles. Judging is tied to the drifting techniques they can successfully complete with their vehicles. Wouldn’t you say this sounds like a fascinating sport?
Are you a Formula Drifting buff? If so, what’s the name of your favorite driver? If you religiously follow the sport, you probably have one. With a mixed bag of different competitors and skill levels, ranging from Tanner Foust, Rhys Millen, Chris Forsbeg and Calvin Wan, you are certain to have, at minimum, one favorite. If you do, do you publicize the fact that you’re a fan? If not, you ought to. Fan support is just as important to the players as it is to the sport in general. The players in Formula D are often referred to as drivers.
You can demonstrate support for your favorite Formula D driver in different ways. Several of these ways demand little or no exertion, but the benefits go a long way once accomplished. As previously noted, fan support is beyond importance to Formula Drifting altogether, but it’s also meaningful to the drivers. Beyond making athletes proud, fan support also communicates that they’re appreciated. All it takes for an athlete’s performance to improve is knowing that their fans out there and counting on them to deliver the goods.
Among the many ways that you might go about endorsing your favorite Formula D driver is by wearing their paraphernalia, if they have some. Although Formula D is popular in the U.S., it is still pretty new. In fact, there are some people who don’t even know that such a sport exists. And so it may be a little bit challenging to find products or clothes from your favorite Formula D driver. Even though it might be hard, it is possible. Several popular drivers, like Rhys Millen, have some select merchandise available for sale. These items are easy to find on the internet.
As nice as it is to purchase something representing the graphics or car of your favorite Formula D driver, like a t-shirt, you should display it. If you’re planning on being at a Formula D event, be proud to wear the shirt or any other clothing that you bought. This way, your driver and other fans know where your support is. In fact, you might even be able to buy driver merchandise, in addition to general Formula D products at a live event. Frankly, it all revolves around the event and the vendors that are present.
In addition to backing your favorite Formula Drifting driver, you will also want to endorse the sport at large. Without Formula D, the chance to watch your favorite player would vanish. That’s why you should show your support for the sport-not just your favorite driver. An easy way to do this by showing up at live events or by viewing them on TV. The Formula Drift series hits the road every year. They make stops in California, Georgia, Chicago, Washington and New Jersey on a regular basis. You might be able to catch a live event at one of these stops. On TV, these events air on G4TV.
Now that you know how to support your favorite Formula D driver and the benefits of doing so, why are you still waiting on the sidelines? Be that fan that gets up and shows their support!
Motorsport Listings of New and Used Cars Reviews
Many people have died during this event. Maggie Thatcher’s son caused consternation in Britain some years ago by getting lost while participating. Broken bones are quite common every time the event is held. I’m talking about the Dakar Rally, which was famously known as the Paris-Dakar.
They say that when the going gets tough, the tough get going. Well, the Dakar Rally is probably the best way of checking out how tough you are by battling and overcoming tough, inhospitable terrain – not for just a day, but over a fortnight. The event came into existence when the founder Thierry Sabine, while participating in a race, got lost in the desert and hit upon the idea of holding a regular rally.
Originally, the cars, bikes and trucks started from Paris, France, to Dakar in Senegal but varying political situations in the countries the rally passes through has meant the route has changed several times. Because the Dakar Rally terrain is a superb natural testing ground, many manufacturers like Land Rover, Toyota, Mercedes and Pinzgauer, as well as Citroen and even Porsche have chosen to participate. Nissan and Mitsubishi also take the rally very seriously indeed.
In fact, 2008 will see Mitsubishi defending its 8 consecutive victories in what has been acknowledged as the toughest endurance race on the planet. The 2008 event is being looked upon as a source of technical feedback from the 2008 Dakar Pajero Evolution in terms of durability and endurance as this will influence the all-new range of high performance clean diesel engines slated for 2009.
Mitsubishi’s chief rival manufacturer is Volkswagen, and the German team has readied its Tdi-powered Race Touareg 2s. VW will field four cars but Jutta Kleinschmidt, the first woman to have won the Dakar Rally (in a VW) will not be with them. VW is hoping to become the first manufacturer to win the Dakar with Diesel power, just like sister company Audi has done at Le Mans for the past two years. The route for the 2008 Dakar Rally is 9,273km long, of which 5,736km will be treacherous special stages. The rally starts in Lisbon on the 5th of January and is scheduled to reach Dakar on the 20th of January after wending its way through Spain, Morocco & Mauritania.
Narain’s flawless performance should remind those who’ve have cast him aside that he’s still very much a force to be reckoned with on the world motorsport stage. In all fairness though, he was a little lucky to inherit first position when Neel Jani of Switzerland, who was leading comfortably, had trouble in the pits. But, more often than not, you need lady luck in your corner in order to win a race. Narain, on his part, put in quick laps when it counted, and set one fastest lap after another to secure his position.
During the closing stages of the race, Narain also soaked up an enormous amount of pressure from Jonny Reid of New Zealand to finish the 45-lap feature race just half a second ahead – his first major win since his Formula 3 days in the UK several years ago. Having proven that he still has the ability to win, Narain feels he’s due another shot at F1.
At the end of the day, this is a great win for team India. It’s sure to be a huge morale booster for a team that is still developing and getting better all the time – hopefully it’s also sign of many more wins to come. On the whole, you’ve got to say, it’s looking relatively good for the Indian racing scene at the moment.
