I hear what you’re saying, but the willliams and the benetton were the two fastest teams of their day, comparable to this yrs battle with mclaren and ferrari.
It is true that williams was the superior car, but their drivers, at that time, were of average quality, when compared to previous world champions, so it balanced that factor out. Also, it is well known that Bennetton had certain features on their car (Schumacher’s car) which gave them an advantage over all of the other teams.

alonso is only good in fast cars.
schumacher is also good in slower cars (1994/1995)
