a2z Adamowicz makes F5000 racing history

As reported in the Orange Car Enthusiast website, several weeks ago, Racing history was made when Tony a2z Adamowicz won class champion of the Formula 5000 in the very same car, the Eagle, that he won the very same race in, forty years ago.

Just a few months ago Tony was being re-united with the 1969 championship winning Gurney Eagle Formula 5000 race car. Tony took the car on a test run at Willow Springs Raceway just last year; The very same track that Tony a2z Adamowicz tested his very first Formula 5000 car.

Hold onto your hats, race fans, because the story gets even more unbelievable as Tony’s experience with the first Eagle, with no down force wings, and Willow had gusty winds coming up onto turn 6 that sent the machine airborne!, Mr. Adamowicz suffered bruised ribs and a nick over his eye (But, thats another story; look it up on Tony’s website). The guys at Riverside International Automotive Museum brought good ‘ol number 7 back to life after just about forty years. Doug Magnon, Bill and the crew (with guidance from Tony a2z) rebuilt the machine to its original specifications.

We understand that even the late, great Peter Bryant had his hand in the set-up of the car on occasion – with expected results: a faster car. The machine is fantastic. It is NOT a tribute car, or ‘kind of like’ what Mr. Adamowicz drove in 1969, it is definitely Tony’s old race car… the real McCoy. Here is where this story becomes ever the more interesting: A conversation with Tony just a couple days ago confirmed that the weekend at Watkins Glen for himself and the race car. Tony said the car ran like a champ and with the recently earned points at the Glen, Klaus Kindor announced at www.occarenthusiast.com that its been confirmed that Tony a2z Adamowicz is again Formula 5000 class champion, driving the very same machine that he won his championship in 40, yes, FORTY years ago!!!

We have been asking motor sports professionals if this EVER happened in Motor Sports… the answer appears to be a resounding Never. Tony Adamowicz has always been an American racing icon – now, to his still growing list of accomplishments, a2z can add a new remarkable benchmark; one that no other racer has ever achieved – anywhere, anyplace, anytime, or in the history of motor sports. At no time in the history of automobile racing has a single driver and a single vehicle been reunited to win the same championship racing series forty years after it happened the first time! Until this event.

Listen carefully, Mr. a2z and you’ll hear the applause. Fantastic! There have been a number of great race car champions in the last 100 or so years. What Tony a2z Adamowicz and the crew at RIAM have accomplished is truly monumental and an absolute milestone, one that might never be repeated; by anyone.

Ferrari – the Ultimate Driving Machine

When we hear someone talking about “Ferrari” the first thing that comes to mind is money. Ferrari S.p.A is an Italian sports car manufacturer, this company started by sponsoring drivers and race cars and in its origins it was never thought of or intended to manufacture their own line of high performance/quality vehicles.

This company doesn’t count with the vast history other companies such as Ford count with but it nevertheless counts with an extremely high reputation, top quality standards and well known “super cars”.

Today, Ferrari is a symbol of wealth among those who possess such outstanding driving machines. Price tags on these vehicles as we all know, are equivalent to full mortgages and in some cases even more. This company has been known by its active participation in Formula One racing where it has earned great status throughout the years of success.

Ferrari, as a company has been voted as one of the best companies to work for in Europe by the Financial Times, which is a British international business newspaper which comes in second to the Wall Street Journal. The founder of the company was Enzo Ferrari who died at the age of 90, in fact, one of the top models among Ferrari was named after himself “The Ferrari Enzo”.

In Formula One, Ferrari is one of the oldest teams in the championship as well as one of the most successful, it holds several Formula one Records and fourteen World drivers championship titles. Among the most recognized drivers Ferrari had in their team we have: Felipe Massa (from Brazil), Michael Schumacher (Germany), Luigi Chinetti (Italy), Alain Prost (France), Eddie Irvine (Ireland), Rubens Barrichello (Brazil), Kimi Raikkonen (Finland), among many others.

Around mid 80’s Ferrari classified cars according to their engine displacement such as: V6, V8 and V12; furthermore Ferraris were also classified according to their body style such as:

- “M” which stands for “modificata” meaning modified, an example of this type of car is the 575 Maranello.

- “GBT” which are closed berlinettas or coupes.

- “GTS” which are convertibles recently using the sufix “spider”. Some examples of such vehicles are: F355 Spider (going from 0-100km in 4.7 seconds) and the Ferrari 360 Spider which can go from 0-62 mph in just 4.3 seconds using its 90 degree V8 F131 engine.

Examined from every angle, Ferrari as a brand, company and vehicle; is and will be a synonym of power, status and quality.

F1 Racing Simulation (intro)

I remember F1 Racing Simulation as one of the better attempts to launch a competitor to GP2. This game sported really good (3D accelerated) graphics for this time, and the introduction movie is a classic. Still not as good a game as GP2, though. IIRC the game was based on the 1996 F1 season. Its sequel, Monaco Grand Prix Racing Simulation 2 (what a name!), was quite similar but didn't have an F1 license.

Using Puma Speed Cat Shoes For Athletic Sports

by Chris Channing

You may not know it, but when you view any sports competition, you are viewing the very best in shoe wear. Some companies spend millions in endorsing their products via athletes, such as the Puma company has done. This goes to show that some shoe manufacturers are to be more likely to create a better shoe than others.

Puma has seen much of their success from their ability to make a good shoe for many different applications. While they are most known for their running shoes, Puma has been a favorite among those who play golf, participate in different motor sports, and even for those who enjoy sailing. As a result, the company has much knowledge in what a shoe should be.

Just because athletes are popularizing the act of wearing Puma shoes, the company has made great strides in giving the average consumer a good reason for buying their shoes: the Puma sense of fashion is considered to be quite trendy. Several different lines exist for different occasions, such as The Black Label line that is intended for formal occasions. Clearly, consumers are just as happy as athletes.

If you have a part in motor sports, you are probably already familiar with Puma and their Speed Cat brand of shoes. These shoes are used among those who engage in motor sport activities specifically, but also have a consumer following for their suave sense of design. The Speed Cat in particular is highly resistant to oils and certain stains, so you will spend less time cleaning your shoes and more time showing them off to friends in great condition.

This isn’t true among Puma shoes, which are considered to by highly customized in today’s terms of footwear. Almost all Puma shoes are able to be obtained in just about every color. This makes them highly sought after among creative types, who are tired of seeing an abundance of black and white shoes.

Toddles can get in on the Puma fun if they would like- the company puts out a very nice line for tots. Since they are inexpensive, stylish, and comfortable- these make for great shoes for families on a budget. Most brands will range between $30 and $60, depending on what you would like your toddler to wear in public. Just like adult brands, toddler brands will also be subject to choice in what you want in a shoe.

Mercedes Motorsports Boss Says Competition is Good

Team Vodafone McLaren Mercedes is currently on top of the constructor’s standings in this year’s Formula One season. One reason for this is the rivalry between double world champion Fernando Alonso and rookie sensation Lewis Hamilton. While critics have been pointing out that McLaren’s call to have the two competing equally, the British Formula One team is adamant that the competition between the two world-class drivers is good for the team.

Mercedes-Benz motorsports boss Norbert Haug is unwavering in his position that McLaren Mercedes is doing the right thing concerning the way it treat its drivers. Haug said that the competition would mean that neither Alonso nor Hamilton will be able to rest on their laurels and become complacent.

“If a newspaper sends two news hounds to the paddock, then it is very likely that they do more research and will find out more than if they send someone alone,” said Haug. “We relish competition. If that remains within a sporting and fair frame, it pushes the team forwards. So I firmly believe that every team aim at having two equally strong drivers, but perhaps only half of all the teams managed to find them.”

While some critics are pointing out that the team is favoring Hamilton because he is British, Haug is quick to deny the rumor. He said that they are treating their drivers equally.

“I think you can forget about that straight away. It was even said how we reacted joyfully on Lewis’ quickest lap in Canada. Well, whoever stated that, conveniently forgot how much we cheered for Fernando being on the way to quickest lap and how disappointed we were when it did not happen,” he said. “You always follow with passion the driver who is on a hot lap. But that has nothing to do with the fact that Lewis is a Briton.”

Haug also pointed out that the double world champion is still in the process of adapting into the McLaren system but denied rumors that Hamilton has been with the team for years now. “It is completely clear that Fernando is still feeling his way into our team. On the other hand, I am quite intrigued by stories I hear about Lewis having seven or eight years of experience with the Formula One team. That is simply not true. He simply knows us quite well, that is all.”

“But why would we try to get a two-time world champion and then give him lesser material?” pointed out Haug in response to rumors saying that the team favors Hamilton. “People who know McLaren-Mercedes know that we are always fair to our drivers. If we were not, I think you would not see duels such as the one in Indianapolis.”

“I also think that the fans appreciate that. I can also understand if the media try to create some controversy about two equally strong teammates,” concluded Haug.

Alonso and Hamilton are using the same MP4-22 Formula One car with a Mercedes-Benz engine and operates as smooth as a Mercedes-Benz washer pump. Hamilton currently leads Alonso in the drivers’ standings. In eight races so far, the Briton has scored eight podium finishes, two of which are wins. Alonso also has two wins, but failed to take podium finishes in all his races this season.
