Formula 1- Michael Schumacher to take Massa’s place with Ferrari

Ferrari announced on Wednesday that Michael Schumacher will return to Formula 1 racing to replace Felipe Massa, who had an accident last weekend at the Hungarian Grand Prix. Schumacher will act as a replacement until Massa is able to compete again; doctors have said that the Brazilian will be out of competition for the rest of the season. The next Formula 1 competition this season is the European Grand Prix, which is held in Valencia, Spain. The Ferrari team emphasized that it will have a special training camp in the upcoming days with Schumacher, to see whether the German is in shape to compete in Valencia. There are still six races left besides the European Grand Prix. Schumacher, now 40 years old, retired back in 2006. According to Formula 1, he is statistically the best driver. He started with the Benetton team, with which he won two titles before he moved to Scuderia Ferrari in 1996. With Ferrari, Schumacher won five drivers titles from 2000 to 2004. He also broke a series of records, including most driverâ??s championships, most race victories, fastest laps, most pole positions, most points scored, and most races won in a single season. He had 91 victories of 250 races and he is still a Ferrari consultant. After retiring from Formula 1, he would occasionally participate in a motorcycling series, although he has not done so since a crash in February in which he was injured. â??Though it is true that the Formula One chapter has long been closed for me, it is also true that for team loyalty reasons I cannot ignore that unfortunate situation,â? the 40-year-old said. â??But as the competitor I am, I also very much look forward to facing this challenge.â? On Wednesday, Massa took his first steps since his accident on Sunday; he also left the intensive care unit from the AEK Hospital in Budapest. His father, Luiz Antonio, said that even though Felipe can sit up and speak a few words, he cannot remember the accident. Antonio also said that he expects Felipe to be transferred to a Paris hospital no later than Thursday, but the doctors at the Budapest Hospital do not recommend the transfer until next Sunday. The Brazilian driver was hit in the helmet by a loose part from another car, provoking a crash against a tire barrier while he was going 120 mph. After the accident he was taken to the hospital, where tests revealed that he had suffered a concussion and a few skull fractures. Massa was induced into a coma and woken on Wednesday. The family doctor, Dino Altman, and Felipeâ??s personal friend, Popo Bueno, said that Felipe remembered some parts of the qualifying race and was surprised that Lewis Hamilton won the Hungarian GP. Felipe also said that the race was his race, and that he wants to go back to racing as soon as possible. Everything will depend on his recovery, however; doctors will say whether he can return to racing this year next.

Porsche Parts – Marking Porsche’s Place in the Motor Sports World

Porsche AG or simply Porsche is a German automaker that specializes high-end sports cars and sport utility vehicles. This luxury automobile company, which was founded by the Austrian-Hungarian engineer Ferdinand Porsche, debuted in the automobile industry more than seven decades ago. Porscheâ??s slogan â??There is no substituteâ? is the basis of the company in continuously upholding its brand with effective models equipped with Porsche parts all through these years.

Like any other automobile company, Porsche had its share of both highs and lows since it was established in 1931. It experienced decent reviews for its sleek and powerful sports cars. The German company relied on its knowledge in crafting body kits of the models through its designer Erwin Komenda, who was also behind the car designs of fellow German automaker Volkswagen. The initial models of Porsche had the rear engine bays and eventually became the trademark of the company. A Porsche vehicleâ??s rear engine is ventilated through grilles mounted on the back hood. The same design was also applied in the older models of Volkswagen like the Beetle.

As a company known for its sports cars, Porsche divulged into creating innovative Porsche parts as early as the 1960s. After the German automaker had its taste of highs in the motor sports world, which was through the Porsche 550 Spyder, the company came out with another high-performance car dubbed as the Porsche 911. It donned the trademark rear-engine design, which is a six-cylinder powertrain, and sleek body kits, among others. The well-designed and manufactured Porsche parts pushed the Porsche 911 to become one of the most popular models of the company. Among its feat in the motor sports world are from racings and rallies. Aside from experiencing highs in speed wars, the Porsche 911 enjoys decent sales. A cheaper version of the 911 christened as Porsche 912, which only had a four-cylinder engine, was also released in the 1960s. Today, the 911 sports car already has contemporary features to boot.

Porsche continues its legacy of excellence in the motor sports world until this day through its new models Cayenne and 911, among others. With the integration of the expertise and experience from yesteryears with todayâ??s modern auto technologies and Porsche parts allows this brand to grow into one of the industryâ??s premiere automaker of high-end sports cars.

How come Ferrari is able to get around the Tobacco sponsorship rule that is in place in Europe?

Last I checked….Italy is in Europe, so how come teams like Renault and McLaren have to do ditch thier tobacco sponsors but Ferrari can keep Marlboro as theirs? I know that the Marlboro sponsorship will be mostly subliminal, but it still going to be there, how come other teams can’t do that?

Why Formula One Racing Is A Great Place For Testing Quality Tires

Formula one will be the best place for the tire manufacturers to prove their supremacy. The companies that provide their tires for formula one racing are the Michelin, bridge stone, Dunlop, Pirelli, Good year, fire stone etc. All of them are leading manufacturer in tires with their research and development growing day by day. Tires are the deciding factors in the Formula one racing. Tires should be used according to the conditions in the racing tracks like hot and wet conditions. Let us have a discussion that will help in gaining some knowledge about the tire types that are used in the racing.

According to the design of the tread there are three variations known as the wet tires, slick tires and the intermediate tires. The wet tire is used in the wet track conditions in which it will remove a large amount of water from the track and allows the car to have a grip on the track. The slick tires are the one that is used in all kinds of race which suit the dry tracks. As the name suggests the intermediate tires have a thread cut that is very much capable of removing the water from the track and also have a considerable grip to the racing surface.

The pressure in side the tire is more important to be considered in racing circuits. If the pressure is low, then the speed of the car is affected along with a possible chance of the car touching the ground. This will result in crashing of the car. If there is more pressure then the grip of the car is very less. The gas that is used in formula one tire is nitrogen gas that is not used for common purposes. The normal pressure that most car company in formula one uses is 1.1 bars.

McLaren formula one team uses the tires that are made by Bridge stone. They use the Potenza model of tires manufactured by them for better grip and durability. Similar kind of tire is used by the Ferrari team also. Most of them use bridge stone model of tires in racing circuit. But they choose the size of the tires according to the suggestions from their technical team. Customized tires are made for each team by bridge stone. The Michelin tires have faltered in the 2006 season which made a down fall to their business in formula one.
